Good Responsive WordPress Themes Part 1- Genesis Themes Popularity

studiopress-review-genesis-themeGenesis Themes- One of the most popular around.

In a recent article “3 Customizable WordPress Themes – Easy WP Web Design For Beginners” I covered 3 of my “go-to” WordPress Themes.  I refer to them as “go-to”, because they work well for me, are popular and have solid support.  Most new bloggers to WordPress are looking for an easy versatile theme.

In this 3 part series, I discuss why I think each merits the “Good Responsive WordPress Themes” title. Here in part 1, I discuss Studiopress’s Genesis Framework in general but in my previous article, I mention the specific child themes by Studiopress and 3rd party supporters of Genesis.

With some 200,000 customers and 500,000 websites trusting Studiopress, that’s a powerful reason alone for taking a close look at their themes and what they can do.

What makes Genesis Framework and the Genesis themes so popular?

Mobile Responsiveness

SEO optimized code

Stylish clean looks

WordPress plugin support

Studiopress, the makers of the Genesis Framework have put in a lot of effort into their suite of themes. Genesis themes are known for performance, mobile responsiveness, SEO optimized code, and strong security; plus they simply look fantastic.

With over 40 themes, Studiopress offers both its own version of child themes as well 3rd party supported themes that follow the Genesis standards. The Genesis Framework is the parent theme with a child theme installed alongside.  The parent-child theme concept protects customization and optimizes the theme management. The child theme is where pure design color and layer option are configured.  Most Genesis themes are built to be responsive and thus look great on mobile devices.

Studiopress offers demos of all their themes to help visualize what can be done with each.  As a rule of thumb about selecting a theme, it’s always important to select the one that most closely fits your needs.  While there are many plugins that add features, it makes building you blog or site much faster if the selected theme has a layout that fits the style and looks desired.

One slight disadvantage of the Genesis Framework is that some themes require CSS customization for elements beyond the basics of header, footer and sidebar customization.   For bloggers who don’t want to deal with even minor CSS changes, Studiopress’s recommended Design Palette Pro can easily modify the font, color and other changes a snap.

However the speed, responsiveness and clean style of Genesisovercomes this minor inconvenience. Genesis websites simple look great and perform on any device.

A second huge benefit to using Genesis themes is the wide assortment of free WordPress plugins built specifically for Genesis; these plugins integrate well while maintaining performance.  They add useful features for managing content, email, images and the overall style of the website. While many themes can potentially slow down with the addition of plugins, Genesis themes are less likely to have issues, especially when using Genesis supported WordPress plugins.

Overall, sites built on the Genesis Framework are robust.
